Creating and Expanding a Management Services Organization (MSO)

June 21, 2010

The MACC Alliance of Connected Communities is “a strategic partnership of 21 community organizations that have joined together to leverage their collective resources and voice”.  “Fast Facts (PDF)”  highlights the Alliance’s accomplishments – its continued growth and their successes.

One of its four strategic initiatives is the MACC CommonWealth: Administrative Services and Management for Connected Communities. “MACC CommonWealth provides high-quality management services to non-profit organizations in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area… Our collaborative approach allows us to create shared solutions that far exceed the capacity of any of our members” (excerpt from the MACC CommonWealth website).

The article “MACC CommonWealth 2009 year in review: Celebrating four years of transformational collaboration” (PDF) offers highlights of MACC CommonWealth’s significant achievements and growth to date.

To learn more about the challenges faced as the original members developed the collaborative, MACC offers excellent resources.  From the MACC News page: “The MACC Commonwealth Teaching Case won first place in a national competition at the Collaborative Governance Initiative of the Maxwell School at Syracuse.
