Planting a Seed: Foundations Build Communities of Shared Nonprofit Workspace (PDF) is an information-packed report by the The Nonprofit Centers Network website, a program of the Tides Shared Spaces initiative of the Tides Foundation.  The report highlights 20 stories of foundations successfully creating shared workspace, for programmatic theme centers, services centers, multi-sector centers, and community development and preservation centers.

One of the success stories in the article Planting a Seed is the Carroll Center (page 19), which provides low-cost rental space to the nonprofit community in Carroll County, Maryland.  In addition to rental space, the Carroll Nonprofit Center offers a Grant Research Library, an Events Calendar, and conference rooms available for community use.  It also has a tenant waiting list, which is a strong indicator of the Center’s success.
