Two years ago, Intermedia Arts was in crisis. As a multidisciplinary, multicultural arts organization, the organization took a unique approach to address the challenge. Intermediate Arts enlisted other organizations to hold a State of the Arts (SOTA) community forum and got the word out through blog posts such as ‘The Struggle at Intermediate Arts” and Twitter. To keep the conversation going after the forum, they started a Facebook page, as well as set up a social bookmarking account through Delicious to tag web sites and links to articles of interest to SOTA. Today they have a more solid footing and recently announced a two-year grant from the nationally recognized Kresge Foundation in the amount of $200,000.
